Mac So ‘victimizing’ Success of iPad
CALIFORNIA – Apple’s new CEO, Tim Cook, said that the iPad is ‘eat’ Mac sales, but more casualties from the PC.
As quoted by Apple Insider, Wednesday (19/10/2011), Tim Cook admitted that ‘cannibalism on the Mac by iPad also occur, having previously claimed the PC.
“Yes, we also look at cannibalism against the Mac. Some users prefer to buy iPad than a Mac,” said Cook.
“However, I think the percentage of people who choose iPad rather than Windows-based PC is much greater,” he added.
Cook said that despite the cannibalism in the ranks of Apple products and the iPad was a great achievement in the quarter this time, the Mac itself is also getting a great achievement for the quarter this time.
For the fourth quarter of 2011 Apple has sold 4.89 million Macs, representing a growth of 26 percent from the same period in 2010.
While the iPad itself for the fourth quarter of 2011 has sold over 11 million units, up 166 percent from the same period last year, explaining that the tablets have largely replaced the more expensive Mac.
Apple’s new CEO also explained that the growth iPad grow because of high prices of today’s PC. “The tablet will also be greater than the PC market,” he hoped. (ATA)
